Bilbao

Shortly after I joined Nick in Switzerland, we left it. We flew to Bilbao, Spain for an Arcade Fire show at the Guggenheim then returned to our apartment in Brugg only to leave less than 12 hours later for Berkeley. Nick had a conference to attend and I was glad to tag along since we'd just reunited a few weeks before and San Francisco is one of my favorite cities. But let's not get sidetracked here...this is about Bilbao.

We flew on the day of the show. Our flight from Zurich was delayed, then our flight from Madrid was canceled. On top of worrying that we'd make it in time for the show at all, we'd checked our luggage at the last minute, tickets packed safely inside. Even if we did make it, would our luggage? Thankfully, we arrived at our hotel while the unknown opening act was still on. In fact we could hear them from our hotel. I knew we booked something near the Guggenheim, but it was just across the street. It wasn't until we freshened up, got ourselves together and started walking over that we could tell who was opening: the Walkmen.

  There were a few people.

For the rest of our visit, we wandered, I napped while Nick worked from the hotel room, we wandered a bit more, ate pinxos, and drank wine...and ate pinxos. We really enjoyed the Basque-iness of the city.
